Bring the Outdoors In

Every room has at least one corner that feels a little unfinished. More often than not, the missing ingredient is something green. A single plant changes the air in a space — literally and visually — softening hard edges and giving the eye a place to rest.

Hanging planters are our favorite trick for smaller rooms. They lift greenery up off crowded surfaces and turn empty vertical space into part of the design. A beaded macrame hanger adds texture all on its own, even before the plant starts to trail.

Choose plants that suit the light you actually have, not the light you wish you had. A sunny kitchen window can handle almost anything, while a dim hallway calls for something forgiving. The right plant in the right spot asks very little of you in return.

Greenery also plays well with farmhouse staples. Trailing vines against white shiplap, a potted fern beside a wooden dough bowl, a hanger swaying near a linen curtain — the contrast between living green and weathered neutrals is what makes both look better.
